Broadway Pentecostal Care Association

The Broadway Pentecostal Care Association established Broadway Lodge in 1981 in response to Vancouver’s False Creek South development where the City invited Broadway Church to open a care home. From the beginning, Broadway Lodge embodied a spirit of faith-rooted compassion, guided by a volunteer Board whose members were church congregants, and committed to honouring the dignity and whole being of every resident.

The False Creek South neighbourhood was one of the earliest and most visionary mixed-income communities in Vancouver, transforming former industrial land into a model of urban planning between the mid-1970s and late 1980s. Broadway Lodge was among the first buildings in this new community and remains its only long-term care home. Today, it continues to serve 114 residents. Its history reflects an enduring faith in compassionate care, community integration, and the importance of being rooted in a neighbourhood that values dignity, belonging, and thoughtful planning.

Residences for Independent Living Society (RILS)

Residences for Independent Living Society (RILS) was founded in 1969 by a group of parents who wanted more than just housing for their young adult children living with diverse abilities. They envisioned a true home where independence, choice, and community belonging were part of everyday life. Over the years, a dedicated network of volunteers has enriched daily living through friendship, activities, and connection, becoming an integral part of the RILS story. RILS now houses over 30 residents across two locations, including a unique False Creek site, which is fully funded by VCH and originally operated under long-term care as the first of its kind. This site is now transitioning to be part of VCH’s supported housing program.

In 2020, RILS became part of The Broadway Group, further strengthening its ability to provide compassionate, person-directed care. This partnership has enhanced the quality of care, created greater financial stability, and positioned RILS to continue serving residents and their families for many years to come.

Shiloh Housing Society

Shiloh Housing Society was founded in 1988 by Rev. Bernice Gerard, Velma Chapman, and the Sunday Line Communications Society, working in partnership with BC Housing to provide affordable rental homes in Vancouver. Their vision was to create welcoming homes where people could live with stability, dignity, and a sense of community.

Today, Shiloh Housing offers 80 affordable rental units across two locations: Shiloh Place and The Redwoods, both managed by The Broadway Group since 2021. Each site is more than just a place to live – it is a community where tenants are valued, supported, and encouraged to thrive. With strong partnerships and a long-standing commitment to affordability, Shiloh Housing continues to be a place where people can put down roots and feel at home for years to come.

The Broadway Group Society for Care and Housing

The Broadway Group Society for Care and Housing exists to bring vision, stability, and leadership to a growing network of care and housing organizations. Our story is rooted in decades of caring for people. In 2021, we shaped that experience into a charitable ministry society that guides and supports our family of care and housing communities. By bringing people, resources, and expertise together, we help each community thrive while holding true to our shared values of respect, love, accountability, excellence, and teamwork.

We are here for more than the work we do today. The Broadway Group is built to walk alongside other societies that need stability, encouragement, and a path forward. We believe every organization serving vulnerable people should have the chance to flourish. Together, we create homes filled with dignity, joy, and connection. Love lives here, and it grows every time a new community becomes part of our family.
