LONG-TERM CARE

Broadway Lodge

Broadway Lodge is a 114-bed long-term care home in Vancouver’s South False Creek. Since 1981, we’ve provided 24-hour nursing care along with meals, housekeeping, and laundry in a safe, welcoming environment. More than a care home, Broadway Lodge is a community where dignity, respect, and connection shine.

Life at the Lodge

Life at the Lodge is designed to feel welcoming, comfortable, and safe. From private rooms that residents can personalize to programs and services that support health, joy, and connection, every detail helps create a true sense of home.

Broadway Lodge is a pet-friendly community. Our resident cats, Biggie and Darby, can often be found bringing comfort and smiles on the second and fourth floors. Visiting pets are always welcome, too, with leashes or carriers used in

shared spaces to keep everyone safe.

Your Room

You will have your own private, fully furnished room with a washroom. Room layouts vary by design, and your room will be assigned based on availability and your individual care needs, such as requiring a ceiling lift for safety and comfort.

Each room comes with a hospital-style bed, a bedside table, and a dresser. You and your family are welcome to bring personal touches like photos, artwork, blankets, pillows, or a favourite chair to make your space feel more like home.

Our maintenance team will check any electronics you bring to ensure they are safe and working properly. Items must have a CSA-certification label, and some devices, such as in-room air conditioners, cannot be accommodated due to power limits. All shared spaces in the Lodge are air-conditioned.

Due to space limitations, we kindly request that large furniture be kept to a minimum to ensure your room remains safe and accessible. This way, our care team has the space they need to bring in lifts or equipment when required, while still keeping your room warm and welcoming.

Tour Broadway Lodge

We offer 30-minute private tours for individuals who are interested in viewing our home and seeing what life is like at Broadway Lodge. We are happy to show you around and answer any questions you may have!

FAQ

No, we are not a locked care home. The doors to exit the building are all secured with a door code (for staff and visitors only). The main doors are accessible to enter the building on weekdays between 8:00AM-4:00PM. Outside of those days and hours the doors are secured. All stairwells are also secured with a door code (not for resident use). The residents are able to roam freely throughout the building across all 5 floors, as there are always team members present on each floor.
This is person-specific. Monthly rent rate is based on 80% of the individual’s annual after-tax income, which is established yearly by the Ministry of Health and Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH). Submitting your income taxes annually allows the Ministry of Health and VCH to review the individual’s rent rate regularly, ensuring they benefit from the best possible rate. Without this, the individual will be charged the maximum rent rate.

We ask that you please not bring in furniture without first consulting with us, as our rooms come fully furnished with a bed, bedside table/dresser, and an armoire or dresser. Space in these rooms is limited, so any additional medium- to large-sized furniture must be pre-approved before being brought in. If medium-large furniture is brought in without consultation, you may be asked to remove the item(s). To ensure a safe environment for residents and staff, we may request that you remove extra furniture if the room becomes cluttered or if care and/or safety becomes compromised.
Yes! Please feel welcome to bring pictures, wall decorations, special blankets and/or pillows, a small chair, radio, small television, etc. to make their room feel more like home.
No. All of our rooms are single-person occupancy only.

No. All of our residents live together across 3 resident neighbourhoods. We do not have any specialized areas.

Residents are free to go to and from the dining room for meals independently if they are able to do so. If your loved one requires assistance getting to and from meals, our care team provides support, direction, and assistance to the dining room for those who need it. Some individuals may dine in their respective neighborhood lounges based on specific needs.

We are always asking residents to come join the fun! Our recreation workers and care team do a great job of encouraging residents to join in on our regular programming as well as our special events.

We also offer a monthly recreation calendar to residents to hang up in their rooms if they would like, so they can keep up to date with what is going on in the home! We encourage you to download the calendar to plan to participate as well.

We have 2 nurses and 4 care aides. As each floor has 2 neighbourhoods (WEST and EAST), these team members get split in half (1 nurse and 2 care aides per neighbourhood).
We have many ways for residents to communicate with our care team when they need help, including communicating verbally, using call bells, and the care team performs regular checks on residents throughout the day, evening and night.
Our waitlist is handled by Vancouver Coastal Heath (VCH). Therefore, you must contact VCH directly, or if your loved one is currently in a care home, you will contact the Care Home Consultant of that home.

Our waitlist is approximately 2 years.
